Q: How can companies motivate their staff?

The key to motivating your team is to understand the difference between temporary motivation and sustainable motivation. Sustainable motivation is developed by effective communication skills. You will see a rise in employee engagement and performance, a reduction in sick days, conflict and wasted time.

Q: How do you create a tailor-made motivational event?

Start by understanding your client’s needs, their reasons for the event or programme, and the outcome they are looking for. Creating a tailor-made event or programme to meet a client’s needs within budget takes a little more effort but is worth the investment.

Q: How do you deal with those characters who are shy or perhaps don’t feel that they require motivation?

I have only met a handful of individuals who did not want to improve themselves, their work, team or business in some way or other. The question really is more about what motivates you, what will you do with the motivation and what’s the cost of you not being motivated.

It is important to engage with individuals and understand what is important to them. Once the individuals are engaged, then you can work on the team and business benefits. The key is to build rapport, listen, and deliver a programme that meets their needs in a way that enables them to feel valued, respected and understood.
